Music is an incredibly personal and culturally embedded medium that everyone engages with, in one way or the other.
What do you think about when you hear the word music? what genre? maybe it's the latest played song on your spotify/apple music? favourite artist, album? favourite song to dance to? your running/workout playlist?
That's all valid and good, but I want you to focus on the music that happens in your everyday life, Everyday Music. For example, as I am writing this, my fingers and the keyboard are working together and making a rhythmic piece of music. The background is filled with a soft hum of wind and a steady pace of cars going by. That is everyday music. The playlist of life that we tend to ignore.
Music can help us escape, and so can everyday sounds. There's a reason why there is a whole genre of Binaural Sounds, or Soundscapes for meditation. We as humans crave nature's song as a source of replenishment, focus, & relaxation.
If you have no clue what I am talking about, it is not too late to hop on that train. I genuinely love listening to Binaural Sounds and paring it with reading. Or using it to stretch. They are soundtracks that emulate nature sounds, for example; waves combined with base tone melody.
Try it out, have a listen, zone out and treat your ears, your mind and your soul.
Much Love
